Staff Urologist-VA Contract
Description
Make a meaningful impact while caring for those who've served. This contracted role invites experienced urologists to join a dedicated team committed to providing advanced, compassionate care for Veterans across Lebanon VAMC and its affiliated clinics. The position blends clinical skill, surgical expertise, and a deep respect for patient dignity-especially for female Veterans requiring trauma-informed care.
WORKSITE: Main VA Facility, in Lebanon, PA VAMC and Clinics in York, Mechanicsburg, Berks and Lancaster, PA
WORK SCHEDULE: M-F 8:00 AM- 4:30 PM OR M-F 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM Saturday Clinics: Occassionally as needed (Approx. 30 hours per year) On-Call: 24/7 phone response withn 15 minutes and on-site within 60 minutes for emergencies
COMPENSATION: $170.00 Per Hour

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Provide outpatient and inpatient urology care, including consults, cystoscopies, and surgical procedures
- Perform specialized exams like Agent Orange and Compensation & Pension assessments for urological conditions
- Deliver discharge education and follow-up plans tailored to patient needs
- Participate in quality improvement and staff meetings with a collaborative spirit
- Respond to on-call emergencies with speed and professionalism, offering stabilizing care or coordinating transfers when needed
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Licensure Requirements
- Must hold a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state or territory.
- Candidates with prior license restrictions, revocations, or disciplinary actions will not be considered.
Board Certification
- Board Certified in Urology through the American Board of Urology (ABU) or the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association is required and must be kept current throughout the contract.
DaVinci Robotic Surgery Proficiency
At least two of the three core surgeons must meet all of the following criteria:
- Board Certified Urologist
- Current privileges to perform both open and robotic abdominal surgery
- Credentialed in laparoscopic techniques for robotic procedures
- Hands-on experience with traditional open surgeries
- Completion of:
- Accredited residency/fellowship OR
- Hands-on training + simulator modules (minimum 8 hours; passing score ≥85%)
- Off-site DaVinci system lab training
- Submission of:
- Case logs for the past 24 months
- Patient outcome records from prior facilities
- Evidence of successful completion of 2 proctored robotic or non-laparoscopic procedures
Female Urology Specialization
To meet the unique needs of our growing female Veteran population:
- One provider must be fellowship trained in the sub-specialty of female urology
- Experience treating patients with histories of Military Sexual Trauma and providing sensitive, gender-specific care
Required capabilities include:
- Complex urodynamic studies using specialized equipment
- Surgical treatment of urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse with mesh techniques
- Female-focused urologic procedures, including:
- Sling placement
- Periurethral bulking agents
- Robotic Sacrocolpopexy and Burch procedures
- Treatment for pelvic floor pain and sexual dysfunction
- Management of recurrent UTIs
- Use of Interstim and related advanced technologies
